A Call to Arms – Saving a Fragile Democracy
We, the soldiers of the Yom Kippur war, have yet again been called to arms. Called to help defend freedom in a still young and conflicted nation, to help preserve democracy. And we, in turn, call on you for support.
As mere teenagers in the devastating 1973 Yom Kippur war, we rose to fend off invading armies, to defend the Jewish homeland with tanks and guns, and with our lives. A heroic war fought against all odds, in which dear friends and brothers died defending the land. The scars of that war live on. Those of us who were not physically injured, were scarred for life.
The nation survived, and those of us who have survived along with it, are alive to remember; remember what we fought for.
50 years later, we, established a non-partisan, voluntary organization, to defend and strengthen Israel's civilian front. With the outbreak of the 2023 war, we fighters of the Yom Kippur War feel a sense of déjà-vu. Learning from battles and memories of pain and heroism, we work tirelessly to help and protect the residents of the communities that were attacked and damaged, and to strengthen the victims of war and massacre, as well as to assist soldiers and civilians at the front as needed and required.
We work every day towards maintaining the Zionist spirit – morally, on its principles and practical sides. Together with our comrades of the 1973 battles, we stand as a civilian front determined to preserve agricultural farms and agriculture alongside the residents of the Gaza envelope and of the north, to strengthen the alert squads, guard the property of the evacuated residents, assist them in collecting personal belongings which remained in their evacuated homes, and provide families with all the equipment they need to alleviate their suffering.
50 years after the war, and out of commitment to the moral foundations of the People's Army and the IDF spirit, to the Declaration of Independence and to the national anthem, we stand with the feeling of fulfilling a mission and the hope to ensure never again.
We invite you to assist in any way, thank you very much
